Alma Bencivenni - A story of Waves

This work begins with a fascination for the water surface.
How do you catch something that is constantly changing? Based on waves and water, I have been looking for ways to describe motion. It has been about trying to understand what is the essence of the experience of water. There are a lot of different answers. How the water surface appears is a consequence of underlying currents, the wind, the light and the surrounding environment that
reflects on it. I think of it as a carrier of information that I want to share. It tells something beyond what you can see. Something that has to do with infinity and time.

The work consists of large and small papers that I painted, folded and cut. Each cut with the scissors is doubled and mirrored in different formations so that it forms patterns. It’s a balance between what is lost and what remains.
